We are looking for a reliable and motivated Junior Procurement Assistant to join our Procurement team within our Finance department here at Portland Charity. What you’ll be doing


The successful candidate will join our small and friendly Procurement Team within the Finance department here at Portland College (Main Campus). Responsibilities of the role include:

  • Liaising with suppliers to place orders, confirm delivery and raise queries.
  • Maintaining purchase records and other important data.
  • Playing a crucial assisting role in the processing of cash, issuing receipts and preparing banking for collection where required.
  • Supporting the Finance Team in responding to internal and external queries and providing cover across the team where required.  
  • Reconciling cash receipts and expenses on a weekly basis.
  • Managing inventories and distribution of goods to departments, including the manual handling of stock and conducting stock takes.
  • Taking a leading role in managing communications in multiple email inboxes.

  • You have previous experience working in a busy office environment.
  • You are organised and can work well on your own as well as in a team.  
  • You are passionate about high standards of quality and understand the importance of accuracy when handling money and management important records and data.  
  • You have a confident, friendly and professional approach with a genuine passion for helping people and providing a helpful and efficient service.
  • Some knowledge of Procurement legislation within FE would be helpful.

 

We will be required to carry out an Enhanced without Barred lists check DBS check for this role which does not involve regulated activity with our learners and/or citizens.

Qualifications needed


Essential


Maths and English Functional Skills at Level 2 or GCSE Grade C.


Desirable


Relevant qualification in Procurement or Finance


Working Hours


37.5 hours, Monday to Friday, covering core hours 8:30am – 5:00pm. There can be some flexibility with start and finish times to be discussed at interview.
